Introduction:

Dear N.V.O.T. Class of '72 Alumni and Friends,

Welcome to our community blog. Here you can share messages and information with your classmates and friends from long ago. We hope you will participate and keep us all updated with your latest news and inputs. That way we can all have something to gossip about.

It's been about 35 years since we were in high school. I'm sure we all have plenty to talk about.
What we've done, where we've been, who we are and what we would like to be when we grow up.

Since this blog may dwell upon the past quite a bit, I thought it would be fitting to start off by finally resolving an age old question which has been kicking around since high school.

At that time, there were 3 individuals who were constantly competing and outdoing themselves to obtain the coveted position as President of the Douche Bag Club. The three main participants were: Thomas L. Butler, Gary S. Jones, Emil T. Franco.

Those three were known in their youth and are still known today for constantly striving to win the coveted position of President of that esteemed three member organization.

(As a side note, I've often questioned if it was okay to use the term Douche Bag in this forum. I've since concluded, if it's okay for that famous New Jersey crime boss Tony Soprano to use - then it's okay for us.)

I'm kind of hoping we can put this Presidency question up to a final vote so we can put this issue to rest and start off with a clean slate. Then move on to bigger and better things, for example: Renting a couple of air conditioned tour buses and us all cruising down to Nuzzo's house in Missisippi for a barbecue. I'm sure Carl & Lynda would be up for that.

All other ideas are welcome as well.

So - let the blogging begin!

Yes - Sue, It worked. We just need a quorum of participants to get online so we can get this long overdue vote out of the way.

Well, count me in. Sometimes I vote for Emil, sometimes I vote for Gary. I think today it's Gary. See Emil, I can be reasonable! :)

Wow! So that's how you blog. That's better than IMing. (IMing sucks for me...)
Thanks Michael for pushing me into the 21st century!

We did it! We're keeping pace with all the 14 year olds on the internet.
BTW, the preliminary election results are:
Franco 0
Jones 1
Butler 0

The overwhelming response to the current election leaves us with the preliminary results of:
Franco 0
Jones 1
Butler 1

Count me in too...definitely Butler.

Debi -

Is your choice based on personal experience?

Nothing specific...since I lived 4 houses away on Todd Lane, I'm sure I was the recipient of numerous practical jokes and harassments!

I am totally amazed at the overwhelming response this blog has gotten. It looks like we've finally touched on what it takes to get our old classmates involved.

5 people of of a class of 310. Not bad!

At this point the preliminary election results are:
Franco 0
Jones 1
Butler 2

It's turning into a landslide.
Butler is beating Jones by a 100% margin. Franco's popular support is anemic. I wonder how much longer we should keep the polls open?

anonymous but credible source informs me that Emil should get the job-keep the faith...#5 of 310

Each of those guys brings a wealth of experience to the job. Years and years of outdoing one another to win that coveted position. It is true that Franco has been consistent each decade of his life. Knowing that President of the DoucheBag Club is a lifetime position perhaps his role model growing up may have been President for Life - Idi Amin

The suspense in this election is killing me! So many issues. So much competition! So much voter participation!
At this point the preliminary election results are:
Franco 1
Jones 1
Butler 2

Butler is still beating the competition by a 100% margin.

Question: How much longer will he be able to maintain this huge lead?

ok...enough; time for a discussion on a reunion?

Time to call it quits on this election. My vote is for Jones.
That makes the final score of:
Franco 2
Jones 2
Butler 2

The polls are officially closed.

These guys will each live to fight another day.

OK - now for the good stuff.
Class of '72 reunion. Where are we going to hold it? I do know that Sally (White) and Marilyn (Lake) have been nominated to coordinate and send out the invitations.

But, we need a place. Alpine Boat Basin?, Butler's house again?, Debbie Liebold's house in Hyde Park,NY?, Klecak's condo down at the shore?, do we have any volunteers for hosting a small gathering of say one or two hundred close friends?

While all of this is coming together I'll be focusing on enjoying the days getting longer and warmer after this NH winter. Soon we can focus on the bugs and the heat once again.

Ciao, Baby!

Michael

BTW - who is this Regime Change blogger that voted for Emil?

OK...it's my first attempt at this blog thing. I hope this works and at least my name shows up somewhere. It sounds like you guys all keep in touch all the time anyway - even without the blog thing. That is so awesome.
BTW, I know the polls are closed, but when they open up again, I'd have to vote for Gary Jones. And since I don't use Donna as my first name anymore - I actually use Courtney as my first name - can I vote for him twice -once under each name???

Hi Courtney /Donna,

Welcome to this blog! It's my prediction this blog will become much more popular as time goes on.
As soon as the other candidates find out that Jones is getting double the votes from one voter they'll have their usual hissy fits and register a a formal protest with the N.V.O.T. Class of '72 Election Board. I'm sure all complaints will be listened to and acted upon with the highest standards of objectiveness and fairness. You can take that to the bank.

Next week, I'm going to go golfing and fishing in Florida with two of those candidates (Butler and Franco) along with some of their paid lobbyists (Shields, Reed, Klecak). It should be interesting.

It should be an easy way for me to pick up some quick cash by placing a few friendly bets.
I'll keep you posted on the outcome. You can take that to the bank, too.

Oops, I hit "send" too soon. I wasn't sure that I was actually logged in. This is a little tricky..maybe even a little intimidating if you're not an accomplished blogger person. I want to hear about this men's trip to Florida. My brother-in-law is in Florida this week with a bunch of guys golfing and fishing too...are one of you secretly married to my little sister? And if so.. I want to know when it's OUR turn to go to Florida with the ladies (and without the kids).
